Challenge 10 - the space between

The was a difficult challenge for me, it took two tries and I'm still not satisfied.  The Space between is more important than I realized!
The First attempt:  I tried to do shadows of the ribbons (this is going to take some practice).  I also got a little carried away with the series of orbs in the one string - they look like 3-eyed mice LOL.  I kept adding to it to try to make it right...maybe I should have used a great big Bronx Cheer.

The second attempt turned out a little bit better, I went for simplicity and tried a new shiny look base on Jo in NZ's instructions on her flicker site.  I think I got the look, but messed up when I tried to put "holes" for the bands to pass under the other bands.   This is supposed to be a learning experience, and I learned plenty on this challenge.  It was fun.  Critiques and suggestions are welcome.

  1. I thought the first tile was pretty darn good, until I saw the second, which is FABULOUS! Well done!

  2. "great big Bronx Cheer" - I had to smile (familiar words... very!!). And I'm with Margaret - the first tile is absolutely beautiful (I wouldn't change a thing)... but the second tile is SUPERB!! It makes me want to rush off and play with Jo's 'shine' too ...but I must go to bed (it's after 5 a.m.!). Has anyone heard from Jo? (I don't know where she lives in relation to Christchurch.) Hugs and goodnight, Kit

  3. I really like your concepts. I think we were all a bit confused at first, however, great tangles are appearing. I really like both the second is so present and very well shaded. I love it!

  4. P.S. just did a bit of a search - Jo's in Auckland (at the other end of New Zealand), so she should be fine ...thought I should add that in view of my comment above. xoxo
