Challenge 10 - the space between

The was a difficult challenge for me, it took two tries and I'm still not satisfied.  The Space between is more important than I realized!
The First attempt:  I tried to do shadows of the ribbons (this is going to take some practice).  I also got a little carried away with the series of orbs in the one string - they look like 3-eyed mice LOL.  I kept adding to it to try to make it right...maybe I should have used a great big Bronx Cheer.

The second attempt turned out a little bit better, I went for simplicity and tried a new shiny look base on Jo in NZ's instructions on her flicker site.  I think I got the look, but messed up when I tried to put "holes" for the bands to pass under the other bands.   This is supposed to be a learning experience, and I learned plenty on this challenge.  It was fun.  Critiques and suggestions are welcome.

Weekly Challenge No. 9 "Artoo"

The diva has made a new tangle pattern in honor of her son.  The pattern is called "Artoo" and we are to use it in this weeks challenge.  I hope my zentangle is worthy of such a great little guy who has fought the good fight- victoriously.

I've been busy this morning adding some new features to my blog. I have added 4 pages to help you learn more about zentangles and about me.

Look at the tabs just under the header and you will find information about classes, free mandala templates, and galleries of Zentangles and Mandalas.  Hope you enjoy!

Weekly Challenge #8 - Hearts for Artoo

This week we are sending love and healing thoughts to little Artoo, Laura's little baby boy who is in the hospital with respiratory difficulties.  The whole world wide community of zentangle enthusiasts are creating these valentines in hopes of sending Laura and her family emotional support.  The results are amazing.

My entry is another Mandala, with lots of hearts radiating from the core bringing love.
The Orbs are sending healing prayers and wishes that Artoo may be able to go home soon.

Laura, we may not be there in person, but we are with you in spirit!

challenge 7 - with color

After posting this challenge in Black and white, I thought it would be fun to try a little color. Using Bic "mark it" fine point permanent markers made it easy and fun to color. Note how the shading shows through after the color is added.

Challenge 7- Relax-Breathe-smile

The Diva's Weekly Challenge this week is to get back to the basics of Zentangle and to Relax, Breathe and smile as we create our entry. Thinking that mandalas are relaxing and beautiful I thought it would be fun to try one. I made the shape of the mandala on the computer, but added all the tangles by hand. (I hope that's not cheating). I'm able to print out the same form and try other tangles on it for a whole new mandala, whenever I choose to do so.
I would like to add color to this one, and will post again when I do. This was fun and relaxing as I not only used repetitive patterns, but had to repeat them (6) times as I turned my tile to make each section as close to identical as I could.
I hope you like the result.
