As the days on the calender keep flipping over, I am trying to keep up with the Tangle Journal project. Today I finished week 4, and I enjoyed some wonderful "zen" time as I lost myself in this mandala. Hope you like it!

Tangle Journal 2012 - the first week
As a Christmas present to myself I bought Genevieve Crabe's Tangle Journal (as shown above). She has a different tangle starter for each week of the year, and hopefully I'll be able to keep up and do each one in 2012. It is a neat way to get started tangling each week. Hopefully others that are doing this will post their results as well.

Challenge 25 - zendala
This week's challenge is to use a mandala template created by Genevieve Crabe. Since I love making mandalas this was a natural challenge for me. The only thing that got in the way was a visit from by beautiful granddaughters and Vacation Bible school, but finally last night and this morning I was able to work on it.I scanned it in Black and White before adding some color. It's been a lot of fun seeing the vast variations that everyone has created on this challenge - really awesome work by all.
Thanks Laura and Genevieve!

Weekly Challenge 12 - Something Blue
This week the Diva wants us to do "Something Blue" in honor of her Mom's favorite color. It's one of my favorite colors too. It was fun adding color to my mandala, but I could not help my self and added more than just blue. If you like this mandala, you can find the template for it under the appropriate tab above. It's template number 4. Feel free to use it or any of the template shown on that page.

Weekly Challenge #8 - Hearts for Artoo
My entry is another Mandala, with lots of hearts radiating from the core bringing love.
The Orbs are sending healing prayers and wishes that Artoo may be able to go home soon.
Laura, we may not be there in person, but we are with you in spirit!

Challenge 7- Relax-Breathe-smile

The Diva's Weekly Challenge this week is to get back to the basics of Zentangle and to Relax, Breathe and smile as we create our entry. Thinking that mandalas are relaxing and beautiful I thought it would be fun to try one. I made the shape of the mandala on the computer, but added all the tangles by hand. (I hope that's not cheating). I'm able to print out the same form and try other tangles on it for a whole new mandala, whenever I choose to do so.
I would like to add color to this one, and will post again when I do. This was fun and relaxing as I not only used repetitive patterns, but had to repeat them (6) times as I turned my tile to make each section as close to identical as I could.
I hope you like the result.

Mandala Mania,

Mandalas have always intrigued me, and now they are creeping into my Zentangles. This one was taken from a free coloring page, and I added the tangles, the color and the shading. I’m trying to figure out an accurate way to draw them from scratch.
I think they are going to be a little like the “potato chip” thing, you can’t do just one.
